Lady in the Water (2006) In the midst of a mundane life as an apartment building superintendent, Cleveland Heep's world is turned upside down when he rescues what he believes to be a young woman from the pool. As he tends to her, he discovers that she is actually Story, a mythical sea nymph from the bedtime story "The Lady in the Water". According to the tale, Story has been tasked with bringing five strangers together to help her find a way back to the ocean and escape the clutches of a wolf-like creature known as The Tiger. As Cleveland becomes increasingly entangled in Story's quest, he finds himself drawn into a world of mythological creatures and ancient prophecies. He is joined by a cast of eccentric characters, including a pawn shop owner named Art; a reclusive film editor named Reggie; a married couple, Troy and Marie; and a young boy, Jake. As the group navigates the complexities of Story's story, they begin to uncover hidden truths about themselves and their connections to each other. Meanwhile, The Tiger lurks in the shadows, threatening to destroy everything Cleveland has worked so hard to build.
